Leonardo da Vinci was born in April 1452 in a town of Vinci. Not much is known about da Vinci’s early childhood. His first five years he lived in his mother’s home then from 1457, he lived in the household of his father, grandparents, and uncle.
At the age of fourteen Leonardo da Vinci was educated at the studio of Florentine painter Andrea del Verrocchio. This was his first step towards art.
Throughout da Vinci’s lifetime, he had many areas of interest including invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, poetry, and cartography. He is most known today for his works of art and inventions.
Leonardo da Vinci was the one of the first ones to talk about the vanishing point in art. This is one element that makes his paintings so unique. Also, this is one feature of math used in da Vinci’s paintings.
The vanishing point in art is a point in the picture that is the intersections of the drawings of a set of parallel lines in space on to the picture plane.
For my question, I want to talk about one of da Vinci’s most famous painting, the Mona Lisa.
Q: How many years did it take for Leonardo da Vinci to complete the painting?
A: Leonardo da Vinci began painting the Mona Lisa 1503 and he spent at least four years to complete it but left it undone and then he spent another three years so the total time is roughly seven years.
Q: What makes the Mona Lisa so famous?
A: The expression on Mona Lisa’s face is what makes the painting so famous.
I choose this art of Leonardo da Vinci because he was a very talented person. Many of his traits are still inherited in today’s life. He inspires me in many ways, though most of all when I think of him I think that I can accomplish anything if I just try.
